The hospital pharmacy provides pharmaceutical services based on applicable laws, current standards and guidelines (Law on Medicinal Products, GMP, Quality standards in oncology pharmacy). All activities and procedures are performed in accordance with ISO 9001:2008.

The pharmacy is open Monday to Friday from 7.30 a.m. to 15.05 p.m., and cytotoxic drugs are prepared individually, in patient-specific doses, 365 days a year, from 7.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. (business days) and from 07.00 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. (weekends and holidays).

The pharmacy offers summer internships for 4th-year pharmacy students, 6-month apprenticeship for pharmacy graduates, and training courses for pharmacy technicians.

The main objectives of our pharmacy include efficient and reliable provision of services for the hospital departments, delivery of medicinal products, bandages and dressings, medical products, foods for particular nutritional uses, cosmetics, disinfectants and other products, and advising on appropriate pharmaceutical product selection and effective managing of the entire assortment of products available in the pharmacy.

We achieve our objectives by:

  • Following rules specified in the “Hospital formulary”
  • Using the “Recommended medicine list” and any periodic updates thereto
  • Providing patients with standardised high quality medicine in order to ensure maximum efficiency and safety of the therapy
  • Continuous improvement of staff qualifications
  • Continuous improvement and raising work standards
  • Preparation of drugs, including cytotoxics, in daily doses and protecting employees against exposure to dangerous chemicals (cytotoxics etc.)
  • Supplying medicinal and medical products to the hospital
  • Participation in the monitoring of adverse effects of pharmaceutical products and in the procedure related to medical incidents.
  • Participation in clinical research conducted within the hospital
  • Contributing to the rationalization of the pharmacotherapy process, participating in the management of pharmaceutical products, medical products and other products used in the hospital. Verifying the rational use of medicines in each hospital unit and optimizing expenditures on pharmaceutical products and rational management of funds spent on medicines.
