GENERAL INFORMATION

Why should you conduct clinical research in the Lower Silesian Oncology Center?

  • We have a highly qualified team of specialists.
Our team includes highly qualified specialists in oncology, surgery, gynaecology, clinical oncology and radiotherapy, who have many years of experience in research projects contributing to scientific development.
  • State of the art medical equipment.
Our hospital is equipped with highly specialized diagnostic equipment, including CT, MRI and PET, that allows us to perform advanced techniques of stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) and radiosurgery (SRS) in most complicated cases.
  • We provide professional pharmaceutical support.
Hospital pharmacy supports research teams that conduct clinical research, supervising the register and ensuring that the medicines are stored in appropriate conditions during each research.

Recently, a modern cytotoxic laboratory has been established within the Hospital pharmacy. The equipment and arrangement of the laboratory is compliant with European quality standards of Oncology Pharmacology and the principles of Good Manufacturing Practices. A major advancement was the introduction of an IT system supervising the medicine preparation process. The system uses precision scales in laminar flow cabinets to check if the prepared doses are correct, and the monitors installed in the cabinets display appropriate instructions for the pharmacist about the next actions to be performed. The system very accurately documents the drug manufacturing process and is integrated with the hospital information system.

  • Certified department of laboratory diagnostics
Laboratory tests are performed by highly-qualified personnel using state of the art equipment, and the results reliability is ensured by internal quality assurance checks performed every day and the supervision by external national and international organizations.
  • Department of Pathology of the Lower Silesian Oncology Center
The Department has been authorized by the Polish Association of Pathologists to perform histopathological tests and smear tests. It is also accredited by the Ministry of Health for providing specialized training in pathology and is the only unit in the region authorized to train physicians of other specializations.
  • Clinical Research Coordination Department.
The clinical research conducted in the hospital is supervised and coordinated by a special team composed of experts on the conduct of clinical research according to ICH GCP guidelines.
